Mondi and Eco-Invest plan to install new 300,000 tpy containerboard machine at the Ružomberok site in Slovakia.

The European Commission (EC) has approved Slovakia's €49m investment aid to paper and pulp company Mondi SCP in Ružo<spanTimes New Roman"" lang="EN-GB">mberok. The company has slated a €310m investment for the site to extend pulp production and add corrugated case material to the mill's existing portfolio. The EC found the state aid to be in line with EU state aid rules as the company's investment will contribute to the development of the region. According to the EC, the project is expected to create 105 new jobs.

Mondi SCP, a joint venture between Mondi Group and Slovak investment and industrial holding Eco-Invest, is running four paper machines at the integrated pulp and paper mill in Ružomberok, producing more than 60,000 tpy bleached kraft paper, 560,000 tpy of woodfree uncoated paper and 120,000 tpy of market pulp. The expansion project was originally planned to start in the first quarter of next year and was scheduled for completion in the second quarter of 2019.
