EC examines proposed Kotkamills takeover by Mayr-Melnhof

Takeover of Kotkamills is the first step in Mayr-Melnhof's strategy
to bolster its position on the virgin-fibre board market.

Mayr-Melnhof Cartonboard International intends to take over 100 per cent of the shares and acquire sole control in Kotkamills, Finnish manufacturer of cartonboard, saturating base kraft paper and sawnwood.

According to the European Commission, the Competition DG was notified of the proposed transaction on 4 May. The provisional deadline for examination of the takeover was set on 11 June 2021.

Mayr-Mellnhof announced its plan for the acquisition of Kotkamills last December, putting the purchase price at around €425m.
