German envelope paper prices partly increase in Q3

Price hikes have been announced for recycled envelope paper in Germany while 80g white woodfree envelope paper has already become more expensive during the third quarter of the year.

Business in 80 g white woodfree envelope paper is still buzzing in Germany. The usual weakening over the summer period remained totally absent, report producers, and converters also confirm the tight market. Volumes beyond those under contract are said to be still unavailable. This enabled the price increases announced for 1 July or during the rest of summer to be pushed through without any problems.

Prices of recycled envelope paper were stable in the third quarter. In view of what suppliers say is an unsatisfactory earnings situation - the increases in recovered paper in particular are putting a substantial strain on margins - several producers have already notified their customers of mark-ups with effect from 1 October.
