Fire stops production on two machines at IP's Kwidzyn mill

Newsprint and GC board machines damaged in the blaze. Production of uncoated woodfree paper not affected.

International Paper (IP) reports a fire incident at its Kwidzyn mill in Poland. The fire, that occured on 16 March in the early morning, was quickly extinguished, the company said. The investigation in the cause of the fire is still ongoing.

The mill's folding boxboard machine BM 4 and the newsprint PM 3 were damaged in the fire and production has been standing still since the incident. Two other machines, producing uncoated woodfree paper, were not affected and operations on both continued normally, IP announced.
