The first newsprint and SC paper contracts have been signed at higher prices in France.

At a relatively early stage compared to other European markets, the first contracts have been concluded in the negotiations for newsprint and magazine paper.  As signs on the market had indicated previously, price hikes for newsprint and SC paper have taken place. By contrast, the market for LWC remains more influenced by chronic oversupply.

There are reports of a number of deals signed with higher prices for SC paper grades. Details on the size of these hikes varied widely, with SC-B grades getting reportedly higher mark-ups than SC-A.

In the newsprint market, some contracts were still unsigned, including large ones. Producers seek to have everything wrapped up before Christmas.
