More recycled containerboard capacity is coming on stream in France with former Papeterie du Doubs, now Gemdoubs, starting production in early September after being closed for about 16 months.

Gemdoubs, French producer of recycled liner and fluting, restarted production on 2 September, the company's managing director Gérard Lasserre confirmed to EUWID. He said that a total of 60 persons will be employed by the end of this year, with another 20 are to be hired for the planned cogeneration plant at the mill's site. The paper mill is geared for an annual output of about 90,000 tpy and will produce 120-220 gsm grades.

The company was renamed Gemdoubs when it was taken over by Lebanese investors Fadi and Nabil Gemayel in summer last year. Before it had been in court-supervised restructuring since January 2012 and was then on the edge of being liquidated a few months later.
