German brown kraftliner prices unchanged in March

Packaging paper manufacturers had announced a price hike for kraftliner deliveries in March. The prices hikes are now being postponed to April.

Manufacturers of unbleached kraftliner planned to charge €50-60/t more for March deliveries in Germany. The price hikes, however, have not taken hold yet, according to EUWID-sources on both sides of the market.

Packaging paper industry representatives said there were now plans for price hikes to be implemented across the board in April. Brown kraftliner producers think that they have good chances of charging more as price hikes were also on the cards for recycled corrugated case material.

In the white-top kraftliner segment, buyers and sellers had already had the first conversations about raising prices for April deliveries, insiders said. It was still too early to gauge whether and how prices might change, they added. However, white-top kraftliner manufacturers are confident that customers will have to dig deeper into their pockets from May onwards at the latest.
