German federal cartel office approves acquisition of Papyrus Deutschland by Inapa

Deal will create paper merchant with annual sales of more than €0.9bn.

The German Federal Cartel Office has approved without restricitions the planned acquisition by Inapa of Papyrus Deutschland GmbH & Co KG, the German subsidiary of paper merchant Opti Group AB. Inapa explained that all conditions of the share purchase agreement, signed on 24 October last year, had been met and that the closing of the transaction would happen within the next 30 days.

Inapa announced that it would combine the business of Papyrus Deutschland, which had sales of €569m in 2018, with its German subsidiary Papier Union (€380m). The company said that the takeover would make it the leading Western European paper merchant, especially in Germany, France and Portugal.

The final enterprise value of the transaction would be dependent of the IFRS accounts of the month where the closing occured, Inapa said.
