Germany: WFU paper producer mull new round of price hikes

Fine paper manufacturers have not entirely abandoned plans to charge more for woodfree uncoated paper on the market in Germany.

Slower demand and abundant supply have scotched woodfree uncoated paper manufacturers' plans to increase their prices for first quarter deliveries on the German market. Lead times are short and paper mills' capacity utilisation rates are failing to live up to expectations since buyers are largely taking a cautious approach to ordering, according to EUWID sources. Cheap offers from importers are also compounding matters

Nonetheless, more and more producers are publicly toying with the idea of sounding the bell for a fresh round of price talks. They are considering invoicing more as of April because of "high costs" and "inadequate margins."
