Job cuts are due to restructuring of metallised paper production at the Composite Fibers facility in Gernsbach.

US speciality paper and materials manufacturer Glatfelter will cut around 100 out of 650 jobs at its German site in Gernsbach. The workforce reduction will primarily affect employees in the metallised paper production, which will be closed as part of the restructuring.

Gernsbach plant is part of Glatfelter's Composite Fibers business unit. The mill specialises in the production of paper for tea bags and coffee pods and filters, decorative laminates (overlay papers), and metallised papers for labeling applications in the food and beverage industry.

Glatfelter will continue to produce metallised papers at its UK plant in Caerphilly.
