Hamburger Containerboard commissions new PM 2 at Spremberg mill

Prinzhorn Holding has invested €370m to expand
capacity at the Hamburger Rieger Spremberg mill.

PM 2 will increase production capacity at Hamburger Rieger mill in Spremberg to 850,000 tpy.

Hamburger Containerboard has started up its 500,000 tpy PM 2 at its Spremberg mill. The first paper is expected to roll of the line at the end of September or beginning of October, according to the company.

Once the start-up phase is completed Hamburger Containerboard will beginn ramping up production to capacity. The PM 2 is geared for the production of 500,000 tpy of brown and white testliner.

The paper production line was supplied by Valmet, Voith delivered the stock preparation plant.

The official opening ceremony was scheduled for 2021, Hamburger Containerboard said.
