Hamburger Containerboard has opted for Turkey as the location for its new containerboard machine. The company will build a new paper mill in the country.

After much discussion and speculation, Hamburger Containerboard has now decided where to install its planned, new containerboard machine. The company told EUWID that the PM will be built in Turkey.

At the same time, Hamburger Containerboard did not rule out a potential future investment also at the Spremberg site in Germany. The company stated that the decision for a new mill in Turkey did not affect eventual plans for Spremberg where investment plans would be pursued.

Hamburger Containerboard announced it would build a new mill to house the machine in Kütahya, which is situated 250 km southeast of Istanbul. The company had already signed a land purchase agreement for what will be its third paper mill in Turkey, it said.

The company will install a new PM for the production of containerboard. The project is scheduled to be finalised by 2020.
