Heinzel's new MG paper machine with a capacity of 100,000 tpy is up and running. The company also has expansion plans for its pulp production.

Austria’s Heinzel Group commissioned its new PM 3 in Pöls following a building time of 17 months. The investment volume amounted to €130m, the company said. The new PM has the capacity to produce 100,000 tpy of kraft paper annually. This investment brings the total capacity of the mill to 200,000 tpy.

The increase in paper production does not affect the company's supply of market pulp, Heinzel said, explaining that market pulp capacity, which currently stands at 400,000 tpy, is also planned to be raised.

"The new PM 3 is an important part of our strategic growth plan and was designed with a clear focus on low grammage specifically for packaging paper in the food industry and in the hygiene segment because the market for this type of paper is growing rapidly", explained Kurt Maier, CEO of the Heinzel Group.
