Higher prices for magazine papers on the horizon for British customers

The majority of companies active on the British magazine paper market feel that higher prices are on the horizon in talks to hash out terms from 1 January 2018 onwards.

Paper manufacturers are especially confident of invoicing more for SC paper: they were fully booked for a long time to come, they said.

Even a few paper producers were a little surprised to find that higher prices might certainly be on the cards for LWC too. The market continues to face chronic surplus supply because capacity is more than ample, but producers' workloads have improved in recent months. The bottom line was that paper manufacturers' order intake and capacity utilisation is "satisfactory" at present. Demand for LWC paper might profit from the very tight supply situation in the SC paper segment.
