Ilim Group launches kraftliner expansion project in Ust-Ilimsk

The starting gun for Ilim Group's investment project in Ust-Ilimsk has been fired. The company will invest approximately $1bn to install a kraftliner machine and increase pulp production at the site.

Under the terms of the Big Ust-Ilimsk capacity expansion project, the US-Russian joint venture Ilim Group plans to install a new 600,000 tpy kraftliner and packaging paper production line and upgrade its existing operations at the Ust-Ilimsk industrial complex in order to add 130,000 tpy in pulp capacity.

Ilim Group puts the total investment at approximately $1bn. The project is scheduled for completion by the end of the year 2021 and the installation of the new brown kraftliner machine will create 600 additional jobs, according to the company.
