Indonesia has currently halted The Exporter Registration Process for Exports of Non-Hazardous and Non-Toxic Waste to Indonesia. The process is under review until further notice.
Indonesia had introduced an inspection regime similar to China’s last year. The maximum contamination rate for recovered paper had been a topic of contention and was set at 2 per cent in spring 2020 after much toing and froing. However, this threshold is to be lowered incrementally after a transition period.
Moreover, Indonesia announced plans to introduce import quotas and had already launched a registration process for companies wanting to export non-hazardous waste to the Indonesian market.
This process has now been shelved until further notice, The Recycling Association reported, citing information from the Indonesian embassy in the UK. No additional details were made public.
