IP Kwidzyn restarts board machine after fire

28 Mar 2018 −

Production on newsprint and packaging paper machine PM 3 is still down as assessment of damage extent and necessary repairs continues.

Folding boxboard production at International Paper's mill in Kwidzyn, Poland, is up and running again. The company informed that it started up the BM 4 past weekend and that the mill was "making and shipping" boardinstandard quality. Production on BM 4 was suspended as a result of a fire that hit the Kwidzyn mill on 16 March and damaged two out of its four paper machines.

The mill's PM 3 that is producing newsprint and the IPack packaging paper grade has not returned to production yet. "The damage to the newsprint machine is more extensive and the assessment of the repair needs continues," IP said.
