Kaicell proceeds with pulp mill project in Paltamo

Kaicell Fibres has taken another step to realise its biorefinery project in Paltamo, Finland.

The company said it had signed a preliminary agreement with the municipality on terms of the mill site area purchase. Kai Cell also announced that the environmental permit for the project was expected to be granted during this year. The company had submitted a corresponding application in November 2018.

Kai Cell plans to build a pulp and bioproducts plant in Paltamo with a capacity of 500,000-600,000 tpy of bleached hard and softwood pulp and 100,000-400,000 tpy of fibres for textile production. Production is expected to start in 2020.
