Kipas Kagit starts up new PM 2 at Söke mill

Voith-supplied PM 2 was finally started at Kipas Kagit's Söke mill in Turkey.

New paper machine boosts Kipas Kagit's production capacity to 1.1 million tpy. And there are plans for another paper machine to be installed at the Söke mill.

Turkey's paper producer Kipas Kagit has started up its new paper machine PM 2 at the mill in Söke. The company reported paper on reel on 7 July.

Voith-supplied PM 2 has a wire width of 8.9 m and a design speed of 1,200 m/min. Production capacity of PM 2 stands at up to 700,000 tpy of packaging paper and board in basis weights of 90-400 g/m², including recycled fluting, testliner, white-top testliner, kraft-top liner and white lined chipboard

According to a company spokesperson, PM 2 was started up producing brown recycled containerboard. The company will test production of different paper and board over the coming weeks and months and plans to enter regular production as of the end of September.

The company spokesperson also confirmed plans for another paper PM 3 to be installed at the Söke mill.
