Kraftliner prices slip on the German market

Succumbing to the price pressure felt for all corrugated case material grades, German prices for brown and white-top kraftliner slid further in October.

Producers of kraftliner in Germany were forced to give in to their customers' demands. In step with the general price pressure on all corrugated case material, both brown and white-top kraftliner prices declined in October. Further mark-downs in November cannot be ruled out

Demand for both grades of kraftliner is still described as sluggish - even though the fourth quarter is typically a strong one. Observers say that the consumption trend for unbleached kraftliner in 2019 was weaker than for recycled papers. The ongoing substitution of recent years had become clearly apparent.
