There are plans for investments at Burgo's Duino site. However, the company has announced job cuts. The workforce is responding by downing tools.

The employees of Burgo's Duino mill in Italy are on strike. A spokesperson of the Slc Cgil trade union said the strike action started this morning and would end after 24 hours. Production is said to be completely down at the moment.

The workforce was protesting against layoffs that were recently announced, said the spokesperson. Burgo had issued a notice of collective dismissal for 87 employees whose solidarity contracts expired as from 2 January.

The Duino mill produces LWC paper on one machine with a capacity of 200,000 tpy.
