M-real to close UWF operations at Gohrsmühle for good

|

M-real will close for good its uncoated woodfree and specialty paper operations at the Gohsrmühle mill in Germany. According to M-real, information and consultation processes with employee representatives on the closure of unprofitable businesses have been concluded. The closure will result in 260 redundancies to be implemented by the end of the second quarter 2012 and is expected to reduce M-real’s total paper production capacity by 120,000 tpy of uncoated woodfree paper and some 70,000 tpy of specialty papers.

Cast-coated Chromolux paper operations are to be continued at the Gohrsmühle mill in Bergisch Gladbach, M-real says. The company is also investigating possibilities to start up folding boxboard sheeting operations at the site.
