21 May 2019 −

Cartonboard prices remain under pressure while woodfree paper prices continue to crumble.

In the UK brown kraftliner and brown recycled containerboard prices decreased again in May, although producers want to put an end to this trend in June. Insiders are still reporting discounts and special prices for cartonboard that converters hope to turn into a general reduction in prices in June, if at all possible.

British printing and writing paper prices are coming under pressure. Even though a number of producers are trying to keep woodfree paper prices stable, more price cuts are surfacing. The tide also looks to be turning when it comes to publication paper prices after multiple rounds of hikes over the past three years. Buyers are seeking to pay less in the third quarter or second half of the year amidst resurgent supply pressure.
