19 Nov 2013 −

Talks for newsprint and SC paper are quite advanced in the UK and are expected to close as early as as the first half of December. Manufacturers are confident that prices will go up.

Buyers and sellers look set to put pen to paper on publication paper contracts relatively early again in the UK. Manufacturers are confident that they will succeed in implementing at least a portion of the mark-ups they want for newsprint and SC paper. Talks are taking place against a backdrop of strong demand and are poised to result in new prices and conditions as soon as the first half of December.

For all types of publication paper, price negotiations will also be influenced by how the market pans out between now and the year's end. Several orders may well be helping customers to build up inventories so that they are less dependent on needing paper going into the talks.
