Market players discuss cuts to GC board prices in Germany

Lower pulp prices and subdued demand are increasing downward pressure on folding boxboard board prices.

GC board prices remained largely unchanged on the German folding boxboard market in June. However, market players report an increasing downward pressure on prices, not least due to continued cuts in pulp costs.

At the end of June, reports indicated that GC board prices could be reduced for individual projects and new customers. Where contracts permitted, price discussions also involved regular prices for deliveries in the third quarter or the second half of the year. GC board producers are said to have already offered first concessions to converters. However, price talks were not finalised yet.
