The 50/50 JV Cariboo Pulp and Paper mill will stop NBSK pulp production for four weeks as of 20 April as Covid-19 related restrictions impact business.

Canada's forest products companies West Fraser Timber and Mercer International will take approximately 4 weeks of downtime at their joint venture Cariboo Pulp and Paper (CPP) NBSK pulp mill.

According to West Fraser, the downtime is due to decreased fibre availability resulting from sawmill curtailments in British Columbia and the other effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on mill operations and employees. "The downtime will result in an approximate reduction in NBSK production at the CPP mill of 30,000 t," West Fraser said

The 335,000 tpy NBSK pulp mill in Quesnel, British Columbia is a 50/50 joint venture between West Fraser Mills and Mercer International.
