NBSK pulp prices have been trending upwards since mid-2016 and have already surpassed their 2011 price peak.

Pulp producers Metsä Fibre, a Metsä Group company, has announced a new price increase for northern bleached softwood kraft (NBSK) pulp on the market in Europe. The company plans to increase the list price for NBSK to $1,200 per metr.t with effect from 1 May.

Metsä Fibre runs four pulp mills in Finland. In August 2017 the company has kicked off production at its new Äänekoski pulp mill, boosting total production capacity to 2.5 million tpy of bleached softwood and birch kraft pulp.

NBSK pulp prices have been trending higher since mid-2016 and have seen four substantial price corrections since the start of 2018. According to EUWID Pulp and Paper's market and price research, NBSK pulp is currently in short supply on the market in Europe and another increase in prices for deliveries in May cannot be excluded.
