22 Feb 2019 −

Metsä has placed an order with Valmet for the supply of a wood handling line for its pulp mill Joutseno.

The wood handling line, which is scheduled to become operational during spring 2020, will increase the mill's debarking capacity by one third. The investment shall contribute to an improvement of operational efficiency, and will enable Metsä to increase pulp production at the mill in the future. The investment sum ranges between €10m and €15m, according to Valmet.

Joutseno mill has a capacity to produce 330,000 tpy of bleached chemi-thermo mechanical pulp, which is mainly used for folding boxboard production at Metsä's board mills.
