Metsä Tissue is temporarily cutting production of recycled tissue at its Katrinefros mill in Mariestad, Sweden. This step is due to increased challenges in the availability and quality of recovered paper (RCP) in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, the company writes. Instead, Metsä Tissue is prioritising the production of fresh fibre tissue, as pulp availability is good. There will be no major delivery problems or shortages of tissue for consumers, according to Metsä Tissue’s statement.
The problem of low RCP availability is being felt throughout Europe, as more and more people are working from home, which significantly reduces the availability of sorted office paper, in particular. Metsä Tissue does not expect this situation to change in the short term.
