Mixed paper prices on Italy's RCP market tending higher

The price level on the Italian recovered paper market remains weak - with the exeption of mixed paper. Prices here are paradoxically moving upwards.

In the last couple of months, the price of mixed paper in Italy has moved upwards. This situation is often described as paradox by market players, since most grades are rather under downward pressure and other ordinary recovered paper grades such as OCC have been declining in recent months.

EUWID respondents are hard put to explain what has led to this situation. They agree that availability of mixed paper is not very good, at least not on the open market. They explained that a large part of the mixed paper in Italy is allotted through the Comieco consortium, adding that these volumes increased this year, reducing its availability on the open market.
