NBSK pulp prices point down, buyers putting pressure on BEK prices

At the start of July, price negotiations for deliveries of NBSK and BEK pulp in June were still ongoing. Price talks are increasingly focussing on price cuts.

A first producer of northern bleached softwood kraft (NBSK) pulp from Scandinavia already agreed to lower its June prices. The market had cooled down and there was not much that could be done to keep the prices stable in June, the company explained.

Until the start of the second week of July, it was unclear whether a general price reduction would be implemented throughout the NBSK pulp market.

<spanTimes New Roman"" lang="EN-GB">Bleached eucalyptus kraft (BEK) pulp prices were also being hotly debated in early July. Amid weaker demand and low spot prices, pulp buyers are pushing for significant price cuts, a move that took many a supplier by surprise.
