ND Paper to buy Old Town Mill in Maine

In order to further reinforce its global fibre strategy, ND Paper has signed a definitive agreement to acquire the pulp mill in Old Town, Maine.

The company announced several measures to improve the performance and cost structure of the mill, which is to restart production in the first quarter of 2019. Among other things, the mill be converted from hardwood to softwood pulp production and significantly increase output.

ND Paper is a subsidiary of Chinese paper giant Nine Dragons paper, who launched a global fibre strategy as reaction to increasingly restricted import opportunities of recovered paper into China.
