Norske Skog restarts PM1 at Golbey newsprint mill

The newsprint machine PM 1 at Norske Skog's Golbey mill is up and running again after a production stop of three weeks. Norkse Skog wants to catch up with production in the coming weeks.

Norske Skog has resumed production at the PM 1 of its Golbey mill in eastern France. The machine, which has a capacity of 250,000 tpy of newsprint, has been down for almost three weeks from 6 to 25 February.

A fatal accident had occured at the site during maintenance work, a company spokesperson explained. The downtime had been planned, but was prolonged due to the accident. The maintenance work was postponed to September.

Norske Skog plans to produce with higher speed in the coming weeks to make up for the production loss caused by the downtime. PM 1 one of two newsprint machines at the Golbey site. The second machine has a capacity of 350,000 tpy of newsprint.
