27 Jun 2017 −

Solid demand from China sent old corrugated container (OCC) recovered paper prices higher again in the UK in June, bringing them to new record highs.

As mid-June arrived, the impact of more stringent checks on mixed paper (1.02) imports into China was not yet fully evident, insiders said. Experts agree that less mixed paper (1.02) is being sent to China this month. Chinese paper mills are frequently filling the mixed paper shortfall with OCC (1.05). In the wake of this development, export prices for this grade have continued to surge in June and reached at a record high. Experts also note that the price gap between OCC and mixed paper is extremely wide.
