Under new leadership, Opti Group plans to continue the business transformation initiated in 2016.

Sweden's paper and packaging merchanting giant Opti Group has appointed Sören Gaardboe as the new chief executive officer (CEO). He succeeds Christoph Sander who has been serving as the group's Chairman and CEO since 2016.

"I look forward to taking the next step as CEO of Opti Group. We have to continue the road we started in 2016 to develop our business organically, and also to add more acquisitions," said Sören Gardboe.

According to Opti Group, Mr Sander will remain with the group as a member of the board and deputy chairman. In addition, he is said to take responsibility for the planned divestment of Opti Group's subsidiary Papyrus Germany to Papier Union, an Inapa group company.

In 2016, owners and board of directors of Papyrus/Opti Group had decided to accelerate the strategy to develop the company into a diversified distributor. In the coming years Papyrus/Opti Group continued rearranging its merchanting business in Europe, selling or swapping paper assets in certain markets, while expanding its reach into markets for packaging, sanitary, hygiene products or cleaning products.
