The Paper Excellence subsidiary cuts coated fine paper capacity from 300,000 tpy to 140,000 tpy.

Germany's coated woodfree (CWF) paper manufacturer Papierfabrik Scheufelen has brought forward the closure its paper machine PM 6 by two weeks. The PM 6 was shut down on Tuesday, 9 December.

Scheufelen originally planned to halt CWF production on the PM 6 on 23 December. The closure had to be antedated because, following the elimination of 343 positions, there was not enough staff at the site to run both paper machines at the same time, the company explained.

PM 6 shut down will reduce production capacity at the Lenningen mill by 160,000 tpy to 140,000 tpy.
