<spanTimes New Roman"" lang="EN-GB">Food sector is showing growing interest in high-quality packaging, according to the industry association PIO.

2018 was a good year for the Polish packaging industry. According to the Polish Chamber of Packaging (PIO; Polska Izba Opakowań), the production volume of plastic, paper, board, glass and metal packaging produced rose last year by an average of 6.5%. The association states that rising demand was particularly strong in the food sector, where growing interest in high-quality packaging in particular was observable.

Domestic demand drove economic activity in Poland, with the country's gross domestic product rising to a higher extent than in the year before. The general improvement of the economic situation both in Europe - especially in Germany, Poland's primary trading partner - and in other regions of the world also played an important role.

According to preliminary PIO figures, the value of the Polish packaging market increased to around €11bn in 2018. Presumably, the industry thereby reached the highest growth rate in this decade; Various economic experts predict that the general economic development will lose some momentum in the current year.
