SC paper manufacturers managed to implement a price increase for the third quarter or second half of the year. However, some had hoped for a bigger hike.
Even though some negotiations are still ongoing, it seems clear that prices for SC paper will go up in Germany. The main reason for the mark-ups is that the market is already noticeably tightening although the conversion of the PM at Laakirchen has yet to take place. This machine will cease production in August.
Some respondents believe the price hike should have been larger. They pointed out that the industry had been unable to achieve its initial demands in spite of the already limited supplies.
