Prices for ordinary RCP grades crash in Germany

The recovered paper market in Germany continues to be characterised by massive oversupply and weak export business to the Far East.

Prices for mixed paper and board (1.02) and supermarket corrugated paper and board (1.04) fell sharply in February. And the free fall in prices for ordinary recovered paper (RCP) grades continues. According to market sources, significant price reductions occurred in March as well.

Deinking grades were also under downward pressure in February, but prices did not decline as sharply as those of the bulk grades. Further reductions are also expected here in March.
The prices of higher RCP grades are developing in complete contrast to the rest of the recovered paper market. Pulp substitutes followed the trend on the pulp market and were selling at higher prices compared to January.
