Prices for publication rising on the back of tight supply in Poland

Market players report that there was no summer lull on the Polish market for publication papers this year. As a result, summer discounts common in other years were not granted. On the contrary: publication paper suppliers were able to implement hikes for the second half of the year.

There was only a little easing in newsprint supply even after the re-start of PM 3 at IP's mill in Kwidzyn. The supply situation was no longer as tight as before, but it was difficult or impossible to get new or additional volumes from European suppliers, market participants told EUWID. The tight supply for coated and uncoated mechanical papers helped suppliers to implement hikes for the second half of the year, too.
