The German market for recycled corrugated case material experienced little movement in prices in August.
The majority of recycled corrugated case material manufacturers do not intend to return to the negotiating table until September.
The corrugated board industry is reportedly a little quieter at the moment, but this has not trickled up the chain to date, especially as many corrugated board plants have empty warehouses. What is more, costs remain high. Market players had originally forecast that recovered paper prices would fall sharply over the summer, but were proved wrong. Instead, cost rises for energy, freight and starch gathered momentum, and white recovered paper grades, in particular, continue to point higher.
