Prices of ordinary RCP grades in Germany on the rise

The German market has seen mark-ups for the ordinary recovered paper grades and especially for mixed paper due to good demand and converters filling up their inventories.

There was some movement on the German recovered paper market in early April. A clear upward trend was already noticeable in March, set off by good demand prior to the Easter holidays. The paper mills continued full production throughout the holidays and now in April had catch-up demand, EUWID was told. Given that there are three statutory holidays in May as well as the Whitsun school holidays in some German states, converters are trying to refill their warehouses.

Consequently, and as expected, there were price increases for the common grades, with mixed paper in particular experiencing stronger-than-usual demand. EUWID respondents anticipate that the good demand will continue in May and expect that prices for ordinary grades will rise further.
