Provincial authority OKs capacity increase at Pro-Gest's recycled containerboard mill in Mantua. Authorisation process to be completed next week.

Italy’s paper and corrugated packaging group Pro-Gest has got the green light for the capacity increase at the recycled containerboard mill in Mantua. Following the latest decision by the provincial authorities, Pro-Gest is confident that packaging paper production at the Mantua mill could be started in the first half of 2020.

At the latest meeting at the end of April, the competent bodies of Province of Mantua have given their consent to the environmental impact assessment (EIA) for the Mantua mill project. The next meeting of the competent authorities is scheduled for 13 May when the environmental permit and other authorisations for the realisation of the project are to be issued.

Pro-Gest plans to increase production capacity at the Cartiere Villa Lagarina mill to approximately 400,000 tpy of lighweight recycled containerboard. In order to get the necessary permits, the group changed the scope of the original project, renouncing to the installation of a waste incineration plant at the Mantua site.
