Pro-Gest's owners expand packaging business to Morocco

The Zago family announced a €30m investment into a new packaging facility to serve the growing needs of Morocco's agricultural sector.

Italy's industrialist family Zago, the owner of the paper and packaging group Pro-Gest Spa, has launched a new packaging site in Marrakech, Morocco. The AMG Packaging Sarl facility will initially serve as a warehouse and box-erecting plant. The company however plans to install a corrugator and develop the facility into an integrated corrugated packaging site within the next twelve months, creating 50 jobs. Zago puts the total investment for the Moroccan facility at approximately €30m.  

According to the press release, the Zago family is looking to monetise on the growth potentials of Morocco's agricultural sector, which accounts for 15% of the country's GDP and its increasing demand for quality packaging. The company believes that within one year, AMG Packaging will be able to supply the local market as well as all other markets in West Africa.
