Two containerboard machines in Germany that had to take unplanned downtime due to technical problems have now resumed production.

Progroup's PM 3 paper mill is operational again. Due to damage in the stock preparation area the containerboard machine in Sandersdorf-Brehna was temporarily shut down for repairs from 10 June.

"The machine has started up successfully. We are now working on bringing the capacity back to the strong level of the previous months," says Maximilian Heindl, Chief Development Officer and member of the Executive Board of Progroup. The company expects a production loss of up to 25,000 tonnes due to the shutdown.

German paper manufacturer Schoellershammer started up paper machine 5 at the end of last week after a three-week standstill. Consequently, production of containerboard could be resumed one week earlier than planned.

Schoellershammer’s PM 5 had been idled on 26 May after a technical fault occurred. Due to expected long delivery periods for the spare parts necessary for the repair the company said the new PM would have to suspend production for four weeks.

Now Schoellershammer said that the shutdown was shortened to three weeks. The company did not comment on the production loss incurred as a result of the standstill.
