Progroup mulls over new containerboard mill in Germany

The new containerboard machine with a production capacity of 750,000 tpy is to help cover Prowell's future demand for corrugated case material.

Germany's paper and packaging company Progroup has announced plans for the construction of a new 750,000 tpy containerboard machine in Germany. Progroup estimates the new PM to come online in 2021.

The new production line will raise the group annual paper capacity to 1,85 million t and should help to cover increasing corrugated case material demand by the group's subsidiary Prowell. The company did not provide further details on the the investment cost of the project or the potential location for the new PM.

By the end of this year, Prowell's annual production capacity will increase to 3 million m² of corrugated board. Between 2019 and 2021 the company plans to install up to four new corrugated sheet plants in Central Europe, adding another 1.2 million m² in capacity.
