Progroup starts construction of containerboard mill

The project of German Progroup to build a greenfield mill with a 750,000 tpy machine for corrugated case material is becoming reality. The company started construction of the mill last week.

With the official groundbreaking ceremony on 10 August, Progroup started construction of its new paper mill in Sandersdorf-Brehna in Germany. This will create 750,000 tpy of new corrugated case material capacities which will increase the company's total capacities to 1.85 million tpy. The project is expected to be completed in the second half of 2020.

As announced in earlier reports, the new machine will have a working width of 9.2 m  and will produce corrugating medium and testliner in grammages between 80 and 150 g. The investment sum for the project was put at € 375m. The plant will create 140 direct jobs and up to 350 indirect jobs, the company says.
