Progroup to build new corrugated sheet feeder plant near Milan

Progroup will significantly expand its
corrugated board capacities in the coming years
13 Aug 2021 −

Germany's Progroup will probably build its planned Italian corrugated sheet feeder plant near Milan. The location for its new plant in Germany is now also almost certain. More corrugtaed sheet feeder plants are to come in the coming years and the company is even mulling over a new paper mill.

The new corrugated sheet feeder plant in Italy planned by German paper and packaging producer Progroup will likely be built in Vimercate, near Milan. Several Italian newspapers report that the company wants to locate its facility on the site of the former IBM plant in Vimercate.

Progroup has in fact presented its project to the local authority, holding a presentation seen by EUWID. When contacted, the company said this was one option and it would not comment on projects before final decisions have been made. The plans, however, are quite specific.

According to the presentation, Progroup plans not only to install a corrugated sheet feeder plant. The company intends to create two packaging parks and wants to partner with two companies that would convert the corrugated board into corrugated containers at the same location.

The project is expected to cost €95m and create 205 jobs. The plant could be operational by the middle of 2024.
