Pulp production resumes at Sappi Stockstadt mill

Sappi's Stockstadt mill has restarted operations after five days of downtime caused by a fire.

Pulp production at Sappi's Stockstadt paper mill resumed on 6 April. The pulp line at the mill stood idle for several days following a fire outbreak on 1 April. A company spokeswoman said that repairs had been completed. The fire was reportedly caused by a technical defect. The company did not provide any details on the damage.

The Stockstadt mill - one of seven European paper mills owned by Sappi Europe - employs 700 persons and produces up to 145,000 tpy of bleached beech pulp for in-house paper production and up to 445,000 tpy of uncoated as well as coated fine paper.
