Italy's recycled board manufacturer Reno de Medici group (RDM) has finalised the announced acquisition of the Spanish rival Papelera del Principado (Paprinsa). In addition to Paprinsa, RDM's subsidiary RDM Barcelona Cartonboard also acquired 100 per cent of the share capital in Fergerdell, Cogeneraciò del Pla and Ondupacart, three smaller companies operating at Paprinsa's site in Mollerussa.

RDM puts the provisional purchase price for the four companies at €30.4m. The purchase price was subject to adjustments according to the net financial position, the working capital and the overall EBITDA of the four companies at the effective transaction date on 1 July, RDM explained.

Paprinsa runs one board machine with an installed capacity of 140,000 tpy of white lined chipboard (WLC) and is considered Spain's second largest manufacturer of recycled cartonboard behind RDM Barcelona Cartonboard. According to RDM, Paprinsa's board machine has a trim width of 4.8 meters and shows great potential for production capacity expansion to over 200,000 tpy.
